My Bon Jovi Fever is over
Well I went to see my all time fav band on friday. As usual they were fab! I feel I can think straight now and get on with my life again... I have been making things, but just haven't got my act together to post about them. Hopefully I'll get things photographed and blogged about this week.

A Busy Weekend and The Strawberry Fair
I haven't blogged much this week, this is mainly due to the fact Bon Jovi are still playing at the O2 in London and I can't go again. I have been busy this week, but distracted.
However I have had a very busy weekend... I work for a small community hall as Bookings Clerk and Administrator. We had our AGM on Saturday and followed it by a Barn Dance. Me and Jules did most of the prep and shopping for the said Barn Dance which took most of Saturday Morning. I spent the afternoon getting the paperwork ready for the AGM. The AGM was quick and boring, the Barn Dance went with a swing, lots of people turned up and we had a bit of a panic over whether we had bought enough food, but it turned out to be just right.
Today, Sunday, I attended the Strawberry Fair with my next door neighbour Sue. We had a craft stall, me selling my sewn wares and Sue selling her beads and Jewellery. I sold 5 hanging hearts, 1 hanging bird and 2 tooth fairy hanging pillows. Not much compared to Sue, who was selling a job lot of Pandora style beads. But I was pleased to actually sell something.
I had made some bags which didn't sell, however I did received some nice comments about them. I will be listing some in my Misi shop soon.
xx

Bon Jovi @ The O2 Arena
On Friday 11th June 2010, me and Jules set out at 4.30pm out for what would be my 12th Bon Jovi concert, this one would be at the O2 Arena in London (which was once the Millenium Dome). I had bought train tickets for the Virgin Train service which goes directly to Euston Station without stopping anywhere else, my impatience got the better of my frugal side. Once at Euston we stopped for a Burger and Chips and then headed to the Tube, Northern line heading south to Waterloo, and then Jubilee Line heading east to North Greenwich. The O2 Dome is quite a spectacular site as you leave the Tube station and walk up the covered walkway towards the entrance. I think Jules was quite impressed. (I had been before, Bon Jovi opened the O2 a couple of years ago). Upon arriving at the entrance I texted a BackstageJBJ (Bon Jovi fanclub) friend to tell her I had arrived, she text me straight back and we found her just outside. We stood and chatted for a while, and other Jovi friends joined in the conversation, some new and some I had met before. (Its funny, people you never meet, but have so much to talk about with). I asked Jules to take a group photo to mark the occassion.
Time was getting on, so we headed into the arena to find our seats, stopping off at the Loo's and then the Bar for a Bottle of cider each. The support band were already playing, a competition winner! We quickly found our seats and climbed over from the seats behind, to save the row of people having to stand up for us. We sat down and took in the view of the stage and the size of the arena, quite awesome!
The support band finished and we clapped politely, and the stage crew came on to prepare the stage for Bon Jovi.
All of a sudden the lights dimmed and the huge screens dropped down to the front of the stage (we could see the band coming on behind the screens, however the front of the house couldn't) the roar of the crowd was deafening, Jon Bon Jovi strutted on stage and launched into his first song 'Happy Now' which is from the new album The Circle. The whole arena who were on there feet cheering loudly by now, started to quiet down and the hardened fans were singing along...
The arena really came alive when the band launched into "You Give Love A Bad Name" of course everyone knows the oldies.
They played my all time favourite which is "Keep The Faith", I think Jules thought I had gone mad, the way she looked at me jumping up and down like a lunatic! I just love the way the whole arena lit up and you could see every arm in the air when they sang 'Faith'. My other favourites played were 'We Got It Going On' and ' Diamond Ring'. I should give special mention to 'Let It Rock' which Jon said they hadn't played since 1987. It was in honour of David Bryan going back to the states to (hopefully) receive a Toni award or 13 for his broadway show 'Memphis'. The intro to 'Let It Rock' is a keyboard piece apparently call 'Pink Flamingo's, Davids moment in the spotlight.
In my opinion it was a great show, up there with Hyde Park in 2003 and Shepherds Bush Empire in 2002. The set list was fantastic, you can't beat the oldies, and some of the new ones are OK. But of course the show ended with 'Livin' On A Prayer' The Jovi Anthem from the 80's, I'm sure Jon can't quite reach the high notes anymore, but the Audience certainly raised the roof for this one.
You know the show is over when the Band put their instruments down and the earplugs (sound monitor) come out. The Band take their final bow and its all over.
Me and Jules headed home. I was extremely happy. I'd a great night out... Can't get better than Bon Jovi!

An Appliqued Bag!
Inspired by Kandipandi over on MSE (moneysavingexpert.com) sewing thread. I decided to try some Applique this morning. I had some iron on 'HeatnBond' which I had bought years ago and never used, found an old pair of jeans and cut the leg off, and a piece of pretty cotton material from my stash. I cut out the heart shape from the HeatnBond and iron it onto the cotton material, cut around the heart shape and then ironed it to the Denim. And then, I sewed slowly using a zigzag stitch all the way around... really easy! WOW!
I then of course had to make it into something, so I made it into a bag with zip and matching lining and zip pull.

A bargain? - I don't think so!
I had to fill my car with petrol this morning. Whilst the paying the cashier casually asked me if I'd like to by 2 bottles of Coke for £2. I automatically said no, but looked at the display the cashier had gestured towards... The bottles of Coke were the 500ml size! I just had to tell the cashier that you could get 3 bottles of Pepsi the same size for a £1 in Farmfoods! (Or Nettos?) These garages really take the p*$! with there so called offers...

When We Were Beautiful!
I manage to watch the Rockumentary 'When We Were Beautiful' about Bon Jovi last night. I had recorded it on our DVD HD recorder! I enjoyed it immensely, getting me in the mood for the concert I'll be attending at the O2 on Friday. Afterwards I was thinking about burning it on to a disc for future watching.... When it dawned on me... The last Bon Jovi album I bought 'The Circle' had a DVD included. Of course when I checked, it was 'When We Were Beautiful'. Now that reminds me I still haven't watched the 'Live In London' DVD which came with a previous Bon Jovi album.... I must look that out! LOL!
A Nice Day Out and Dying Feathers
Last friday, due to it being half term, hubby having a days holiday and it being lovely weather, we went to Emberton Park, nr Olney, for a picnic. Jules and her clan came along as did my brother and sister in law and their son.
It was a very pleasant afternoon, lots of running around, games of cricket (I even bowled for a short while) badminton and frisbee throwing. We had far too much to eat as usual, and we fed half a loaf of bread to the ducks, geese and their cute goslings.
Whilst we were there my daughter wanted to collect some feathers for a school project she will be working on this week. So yesterday (sunday) I set about dying the feathers nice colours for her. The only dye I have is food colouring, so it was a bit of an experiment. And, dispite it raining on my drying feathers last night, and causing some of the colours to run, I think it was a success.

Another Crafty Make!
It was raining yesterday and I couldn't do want I wanted to do, so I had another go at the Buttercup Bag. This time I enlarged the pattern and altered it so I could add a zip instead of a magnetic clasp.
I had a rumage in my fabric stash and came up with some denim and some stripy cotton drill. And some pretty material for the lining.
I am pretty pleased with the result!
I'm going to add a couple of buttons to the Denim strip for decoration.
View from the top, showing the zip and twee lining!
